2 Timothy 4:2-3

Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

Critical Thinking on Critical Social Justice Theory

or

How to Address Real Issues with Reality

  • Does it seem to you that our world has turned upside down?
  • Does it seem new words for things are constantly showing up and the definitions of words that have been around for awhile are changing, too?
  • When you hear phrases like, “white supremacy” and “gender fluidity” are you confused?
  • If you answer “Yes” to any of the above, do we have a class for you-

Monday Night@ 6 PM PT

We will examine Critical Social Justice Theory through the lens of Cynical Theories: How Activist Scholarship Made Everything about Race, Gender, and Identity- and Why This Harms EverybodyThis is not a book study per say, but this will be the main text.

We will not only consider the real dangers of Critical Theory, but will also consider alternative approaches to help address some very real social problems we face in our society.  Biblical foundations and brain research informed by the teachings of Dallas Willard and Jim Wilder will also guide our learning together.

We begin Monday, September 21@ 6 PM PT

Class participation is by registration only

Subject: What a Good Neighbor!

Good Evening NHMC:

What is being a good neighbor?

Neighbors usually play a very important role in our community and our lives. Good neighbors are friendly, considerate and helpful. Their actions support the community and they look out for others.

Great neighbors step up and rise to the occasion in times of need… and expect nothing in return.

In tonight’s cover story of our Update Report, we highlight a great neighbor, LIFEhouse Church and Pastor Dana Hanson.

Twice a week, for the past few months, LIFEhouse Church and their team of volunteers have delivered 544 meals to our caregivers. Always delivered in a kind and humble manner.

These meals mean so much to all our caregivers. They are not only delicious and provide nourishment and energy throughout the day, but they also serve as a real morale booster!

The days are long and arduous at the hospital during this time and these meals are so greatly appreciated.

LIFEhouse Church and Pastor Dana Hanson…what a good neighbor!

Stay Safe and Be Well,

Brian

From ARC Director Mike Bradley:

In a time when it is important to listen, learn, and seek to grow in our understanding of one another, who are the voices we should listen to? The speaker in this video is one of those people we can and should listen to. His name is Steven W. Zachary. He is a past president of the Minnesota NAACP. He regularly received death threats as a result of his advocacy for justice. And he won a landmark legal victory to outlaw gender discrimination.

Steven’s personal story is remarkable. In this courageous, raw, and compelling message posted on YouTube, Steven shares his story. Steven, who is an ordained minister as well as an attorney, and a member of Wonderful Mercy Church in Gilbert, AZ pulls no punches. He says hard things and he says them beautifully. He says important things and he says them tenderly.

I highly commend Steven and his message to you.

I discovered this message to be very helpful. I recommend to y’all. PD

Pentecost Sunday is a day of new beginning just as the Holy Spirit breathed over the waters of creation, in the nostrils of the first human, and over all the followers of Jesus at Pentecost…a message for the times ahead

Hey, brothers and sisters in Christ, why don’t we see more transformation in our lives and the lives of Christians around us?

Bible study, spiritual growth classes, lots of prayer, being in a small group, “going to church”… Why doesn’t my life or the lives of so many around me look more like what Jesus would look like if he were me in any given situation?

What’s missing?

We will spend four Mondays@ 6 PM PST exploring this together. Video, teaching, discussion, and exercises…We will join in a zoom meeting and make progress in transformation.

Joy…

“Sticky” Love…

Identity…

Character-building…

Explore with me.

We thank God that the LIFEhouse Church community continues to be faithful in funding God’s mission through his church. Offering is coming in through mail, folks “delivering” their offering, and online. We are a bit behind what is “budgeted” but what is inspiring is our response as we face these times together. For everyone, please remember to partner with us in our ministry of providing physical, spiritual, pastoral, and emotional care and support for our congregation and our community. Your continued faithful financial support makes all of this possible.

Remember you can give online by clicking this link or sending your check to the LIFEhouse.

Let me highlight one of the exciting opportunities we have to serve our community is Meals of Love. We are being used to God to bless our neighbor across the street with prayer and delvering hot and delicious meals for the staff. We are ordering these from small local “mom and pop” restaurants in order to bless those neighbors, as well. Thus far, we have raised about $3000 for this! God is good! If you wish to contribute to this, simply write love offering at bottom of the check or online, click “Love Offering” in the dropdown menu.
