Hebrews 9:27-28

27 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, 28 so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him. (NLT)

Reincarnation is a main teaching of Hinduism. After a person dies, their soul or spirit comes back to physical life in a new body of another person or animal. As to who or what it depends on the measurement of the good they did vs. the bad they did before they died. This is a simple definition of “Karma.”

This is not a strange teaching to Americans. Surveys show about 25% of Americans believe in some form of reincarnation. In the Christian faith we die and our spirit or soul, the non-physical reality of who we are, is with God (metaphor of asleep is used in scripture) and we will then be raised at the end time and given a new physical body that will not wear out. Eternal life.

From God’s point of view, our good vs. bad is not an issue. Jesus died for us and we are seen as pure and clean by God, as we receive this gift of grace. We are special and we don’t have to do anything to be considered that way. Reincarnation has no grace and you never know where you stand on any given day.
