What is the worship like?
Each week we have practical Bible teachings, usually preaching verse-by-verse through the Scriptures. We are currently in Ephesians. Worship is joyous and spirit-filled, led by the Holy Spirit and accompanied by the Band. Holy Communion is a highlight of worship as we celebrate our family meal.
The LIFEhouse Church community is rare in the present state of modern churches. Unlike most, LIFEhouse Church gathers together four generations strong! We experience the Gather, Word, Meal, and Send rhythm of our worship life together, and we are sensitive to our wider Christian fellowship and informed by the best of our Lutheran influence.
On the third Sunday of each month, we have a community celebration, embracing our heritage and “honoring our fathers and mothers.” Worship is led by both band and organ, and includes a special children’s message. We experience the intimate setting of Holy Communion around the altar, and we ponder the more ancient furnishings, clergy wear, and symbols that lift up the Gospel in color and beauty.
Why aren’t the children separated from the parents throughout the morning? Why is there no “Children’s Church”?
Because totally separating children from adults during the most significant family time of the Christian community is not biblical and it goes against the best brain and human dynamic research we have today. Sunday morning at LIFEhouse has always been a family affair where we value young and old.
All children through fifth grade begin worship with their families, and then go to Sunday School at the Bible teaching time. The children return for Holy Communion and the sending of our community to love our neighbors beyond the walls of our campus.
Because of this format, we have the chance to worship together in four generations, providing the model of following Jesus together as a family, while at the same time giving opportunity to connect and learn at an age-appropriate level. Most folks also get together in the Hall for free snacks and beverages after worship, having the opportunity to further connect!
